Beverly Beegle

Beverly Beegle is not afraid to be courageously vulnerable in her process as a composer. She is also drawn to the concept of programmatic writing and telling stories through her music. With that combination, in 2021, she told a powerfully moving story through her piece “She Grieved for Her Father” about the tragic loss of her father in 2020. Which is what she considers her largest and most compelling piece yet.

This complex and poignant work depicted her experience including the phone call when she found out the tragic news, her heartbeat, different instruments cried in a yearning trance of the sadness, a melody representing her father played by the trombone which was his instrument, the same melody played by the clarinet representing herself, various programmatic writing techniques that expressed anger, despair, denial, and numbness. It finished with an ending that symbolizes a release of either acceptance or rejection. The premiere was an emotionally transformational journey for the orchestra and the audience.

She now loves taking walks in nature, and listening to music that makes her mind wander like Debussy. She sees herself resonate with Temperance Brennan from Bones, a strong and independent female icon who is passionate. Through her music, she wants to connect, move and communicate. Through her emotions and experience, she wants to evoke resonance from her audiences.
