Brady Wolff

The wonders of nature and human experiences greatly inspire Brady Wolff. He has written music about the deep ocean vent, the smell that fills the air after a rainstorm, and the transitory state of mind between awake and asleep. He dreams of expanding his repertoire by traveling to all the magnificent natural wonders in the world, the Great Barrier Reef, Amazon Rainforest, and Andes Mountains.

Besides embracing life experiences, Brady also challenges himself to stay disciplined with regular composition challenges like improvising on the piano and marimba. He is looking for a balance in his music that is the perfect balance of intuition and structured planning. His recent work for Saxophone Quartet and Piano, called “Intuition” in fact, is his proudest work yet. In this work, he played with time, pitch and noise, resulting in what he starts to see as his unique style of composition.

Also passionate about activism, particularly in LGBTQIA+ visibility and rights, one of Brady Wolff’s biggest heroes is David Bowie. He admires Bowie for not being bound by societal norms in his art, and Bowie showed us all that one can embrace their passion, their differences, and their fellow man all at once.
