Naveed Perkins

Emerging composer Naveed Perkins is originally from San Diego, and now devotes his studies with respected composer and pedagogue Richard Danielpour in Los Angeles. Through composing, Naveed has always been able to naturally express his emotions and personality. He finds more and more these days that he is evolving his outlet into a more complex manifestation that tells his unique stories with words and music altogether. One work he is currently working on is an oratorio with an original story and libretto.

He loves the peace he finds disconnecting into nature like going out to Julian, California near his home in San Diego, and doing so refreshes and fuels his creative process. Besides music, he has also written a book of short poems called “Letters to My Unconscious Mind”.

His proudest experience as a composer was working with the Dover Quartet on a piece called Three Miniatures, which on a very short notice, he finished and polished the entire piece beautifully in the course of three weeks. He believes by continuing to grow and hone his compositional techniques, he will be able to express his unique voice better and better, and reach his compositional goals. He would love to someday see his music played by musicians across generations all over the world.
