Will Hermanowski

Emerging composer Will Hermanowski grew up in Aurora, Ohio. His friends have been calling him “Maestro” for his deep passion and interest in music. Currently pursuing his masters in composition, his connection to music doesn’t stop at composing. He conducts and plays the piano regularly, and he fully embraces the multiple musical outlets he has, including the hard practice playing the piano requires.

He has multifaceted interests besides Classical Music, and these interests often find a way to enrich his musicianship. He particularly likes to listen to Progressive Rock, and loves to take subjects he sees on television, in films or experiences in poetry and visual art, and adapt them into his own music.

Will’s proudest work so far is his solo piano piece called “Fallen”. Inspired by Alexandre Cabenel’s painting “The Fallen Angel '', the piece depicts the darkness of the power hungry and ambitious Lucifer, with two biblical references in mind which he included in his score. He used multiple programmatic materials to depict many parts of Lucifer’s story, whole-tone scale, augmented triads, big descending gestures and piercing fragments of Dies Irae chants. He perceives it to be a work that truly broke grounds from his comfort zone and vocabulary as a composer.
